Hishigi always reminds him that he vowed to follow Fubuki until the end. Break His Heart to Save Him/ Shoo the Suicidally Loyal Friend: There are moments where it really seems like he's trying to get Hishigi to leave the Mibu, aggressively saying he doesn't care if he stays or not.Bloody Murder: He can create powerful, corrosive "scarlet wyrms" by infusing the water with his own blood.The Atoner: After throwing himself onto Shinrei's sword, he says that his plan was always to die atoning for his and Hishigi's crimes.Four-Temperament Ensemble: The current lineup fits this almost perfectly.Four Is Death: They're absolutely lethal, more so than any other "team" in the series.The Dark Chick: Tokito is the young, immature loose-cannon type.He subverts it later when he proves himself tactically intelligent and then makes a Heel–Face Turn. The Brute: Yuan is initially presented this way, being a Boisterous Bruiser and the only Elder who fights hand-to-hand.Complete with creepy genetic experiments. His water attacks even look like dragons! Elite Four: The Taishiro serve as this type of Quirky Miniboss Squad to the Former Crimson King.Tokito is seen Playing with Fire at one point as well, but purely physical attacks are the usual approach. Hishigi's abilities seem to be light-based. Elemental Powers: Yuan fights with fire, while Fubuki is a master of water techniques they actually taught these elements to Hotaru and Shinrei.Related to Adaptational Wimp above the former refers to the title of Taishiro, this refers to the actual characters. Adapted Out: Not one of these characters even exists in the anime.
In dramatic contrast, Hishigi alone is capable of effortlessly one-shotting Kyo and rendering him unconscious for an entire volume of the manga.
